Question How do I simultaneously charge my phone while it's connected via adapter and HDMI?

Just bought a Galaxy Tab A 10 inch tablet. I want to connect it to the TV via HDMI. It doesn't have an HDMI port, so I'm going to use a USBC to HDMI adapter. Many of them have the USBC port on the adapter so you can simultaneously charge your tablet. I just don't understand how to do it. How do you charge the tablet while the charging port is being used by the adapter?

I don't have such a tablet (or adapter), but it seems to be a cable with one "male" USB-C (going into tablet), one "female" USB-C (going into charger), and HDMI connector for the TV. So, tablet' port is used both as "output" (to HDMI) and "input" (to charge).
