I have 2 fans that came with my HDD Cooler. THey have leds on them. There are no screws holding this fan unit together. Is it snapped in? Can I pry the 3 pieces apart so that I can remove or possibly replace the led on the fan? It's a 40 mm fan. Anyone know or has had experienc on safely taking apart these fans?
Thanks
Matthew

The quick answer is....It isn't worth it.

There are no serviceable parts in there and any thing you do to make it work again will last only a short time before it fails again.

Do yourself a favor and buy a new fan.

I hear ya. I want some yellow or white led or cold cathode fans. But can't seem to find any 40mm fans with any color other than blue. Not sure why there is such a lack of vareity in pcu color moding. Everyone loves blue that much?

Hmmmm....my suggestion is to get yourself some yellow leds and mod the fan connection yourself. It is not rocket science.

hehe that is what I'm wanting to do. But I don't undesrstand how this thing is put together. It looks like it has a led disc with 1 led on each side of the disk, and then the motor/wiring which seems to be fixed or glued on the shaft. And then the fan with a magnet on the fan cylinder. I've been able to pop off the fan, but the armature and wiring seem to be fixed in place.
