Hey!

I am buying a new Computer, like everything from scratch. I want to use my old Hardrive In the new system. I am changing from Intel Motherboard and Cpu with no Graphics card to a Gigabyte motherboard and Amd Processor with a new Graphics card.

The Hardisk has 4 Partitions C,D,E,F. The C Drive has Windows 8.1 and the other 3 drives have games, applications, movies.

Can I format the C Drive with a new copy of Windows 8.1 via a pendrive in the new system? I do not have anything important in C Drive but I need the complete data from all the other drives D,E,F.

What do I do?

Thanks in Advance.

Solution

Yes.
Yes, just reinstall the OS in the C partition. Any data living in the other partitions will be fine.
Applications living in the other partitions will need to be reinstalled.

Steam games are probably fine, after you install the new Steam client and direct it to that game folder in the other drive(s).
