I just did some reading on amd cards. Sounds like a 7900xtx is a good card. But then I looked and you can't find any of those online either? Why are those out of stock too?
It's out of sale because the 9000 series AMD graphics cards are going to be released soon (this Friday).

I'm not locked into $300 for a card, just the highest cost I could find in stock online most places. I think I paid about $800 for my 1080ti when it came out. I'll give it until summer and see where things are. Thanks for the time.

How do you even build a pc anymore? Is it just as hard to get a new motherboard and psu and ram? On both of my previous builds I would wait for the right gpu to come out and then build it with a new motherboard and psu and ram and cpu. How do you do that today?
Just before BF last year, I purchased all the parts for a whole new system.
In my sig, Raptor.
Approx $1800USD.

Since nobody else will say, I will.

If you are on a tight budget, get a console. Right now you will need to spend well north of a grand to build a PC that performs in current games as well as a console. A PC can also far exceed what consoles can do, but then you are going up to and over $2k. Midrange GPUs are now $600-800, if even available.

/haven't owned a console since Atari 2600

No need to be afraid to say this.

Yeah, for people on budget, a good console is a smart move.
