Had you saved and restarted the game in between?
I sometimes think the game gets just a very slight bit flakey
when played for long periods without saving. (Or the player
does. 🙂
See the recent thread I started under the delusion that there
might be a bug in Magicbane's cancelation effect.
One more reason to have recording and/or logging capability
built into the game.
