Back in the days of Stadium 1 you could move all of your items from R/B/Y
into a large item storage box.
All the items from R/B/Y went into the same box and you did not need to meet
any special requirements to get items out of the box. So if you wanted to
restart a game you just dumped your items into Stadium 1 then get them all
back out after you reset the game. There was still the 100 pokemon rule for
swapping pokemon between carts. and Stadium 1 but that did not apply to the
item storage box. It was very quick and painless.
In Stadium 2 they changed the item storage so that it was dependent on id
number. It was still easy to dump items but if you reset your game you could
not get the items back out. Also item storage was separate for B/R/Y and
G/S/C. This I understand because G/S/C was backward compatible but B/R/Y was
not forward compatible and many new items were introduced in G/S/C that
would not work in B/R/Y.
Now we have Coliseum and Box.
Coliseum's only purpose (as near as I can figure) is to give access to the
pokemon from G/S/C that were not in R/S or FR/LG.
The only thing box does is store pokemon.
The only way to get items from one place to the next seems to be having your
pokemon carry the item.
Even with the much improved item moving in FR/LG you can not access the
items that are stored on your computer or in your bag. something you could
do in Stadium 1& 2.
Plus the fact that you can only trade 6 pokemon at one time before you have
to leave the trade area then remove the items then go back into the trade
area and do it all over again. If they had only improve the item
moving/storage in Box, instead of removing it entirely, I think Box would
have been a great product instead of a so-so product.
Thanks for reading (or not).
