If he's overclocking shouldn't he get like... DDR500 Ram from OCZ to give him more headroom?

AMD 64 3400+
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
1 GB Kingston HyperX PC3200
6800 GT
WD Raptor 74GB

This 3200 memory is reknowed for high clocks, see http://www.anandtech.com/memory
In particular:

This memory comes out on top in both reviews for the athlon 64.

Why that Corsair? Anandtech seemed to like that OCZ stuff best. And is there anything a little cheaper for memory that would be almost as good? $280 is quite a bit just for memory.

To be 100% honest with you, when i buy ram, i buy either the best or the worst. I could buy 1G of the best, such as the CorsairXL or the OCZ PC3700EB, or I buy 2G of Samsung generic with some heatspreaders. I chose the 2G samsung generic, since with some luck they'll go up to 230mhz(460DDR) And Personally I think more ram gives more performance than faster ram.

PDP Systems model#: PDC1G3200+XBLK or PQI model#: PQI3200-1024DBU.

Actually, from what I read Anandtech game the Crucial Ballistix their editor's choice on both the new Intel and AMD sockets, OCZ came in second. This can also be seen in their high-end buyer's guide.

Just personal preference. The XL gurantees 2-2-2-5 at 200mhz and 2.5-3-3-6 at 250mhz. And because i've had better overall experience with Corsair. Don't get me wrong, OCZ is great, i've owned many OCZ products in the past. Just that in my book OCZ comes just after Corsair. Bah, just ignore me, do whatever you like, both are great ram, if you have the cash for it. But I still stand on my opinion of 2G generic Samsung is better than 1G of either the XL or the OCZ.

Just clarifying, is that January 1st 2005? And could u show me a couple of links for 2 gigs on newegg? And would I want 4 512mb or 2 1gs? Is the mobo maximum 3 or 4?
Thx

Just clarifying, is that January 1st 2005?
Correct. Soon after the 1st day of 2005. Don't want to rush a board out; and, need to deplete supplies of Socket 754 boards.

And could u show me a couple of links for 2 gigs on newegg? And would I want 4 512mb or 2 1gs?
Current 1GB dimms on the market wouldn't be suitable for overclocking (if memory overclocked). I'd suggest two 512MB dimms.

Is the mobo maximum 3 or 4?
Would assume that the DFI S939 motherboards would allow for up to 4 memory modules.

How come 2 gigs would be faster than 1 gig even though the 1 gig is at a faster speed? What would use that much? Is this 2 years down the road?

And what do u think of these memories?

Speed Vs Quantity. Don't argue with me, try any newer applications, especially Doom3, you'll see why i say 2G of generic is better than 1G fast. 1G fast ram gives you more bragging rights since you get higher marks on slightly older benchmarks such as 3dmark03, and Aquamark3. If you live for benchmarks then go 1G high speed, if you live for the real life apps then 2G generic.

Honest truth i myself wouldn't get any of those rams u mentioned. Like i said before, i either go for the best ram or more of crappiest ram. Go for the OCZ PC3700EB or Corsair 3200XL if you want the 3dmark03 or Aquamark03 bragging rights. If you want to run any of the newer games on high or ultra quality, get 2G of generic.

The ram a the top supports more voltage! That mean anything? OC better?

All the recent power units I've gotten from them have had SATA power. I haven't gotten the 530's yet myself, so you'll want to check the description or photos on the site you buy from.

It's just a matter of preference.
