How good will this handle games

Solution
this is a very solid build and for the sake of disclosure it is very similar to mine except i run a 4.7GHz i5 2500k

things to consider
motherboard:
z78 board is what i would consider. maybe cheap out on the case or get a rosewill if you can.

case:

memory:
with the haswell you can support up to 3000 for your ram speed

the above would take you most of the way there with the motherboard i chose.

Can i ask what would be the improvement for the motherboard? Will it make a substantial difference in performance?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6989/intel-z87-motherboard-review-with-haswell-gigabyte-msi-asrock-and-asus-at-200

this is a breakdown of differences.
but more usb 3.0 ports
more pci lanes
more SATA 6 gb/s ports
overclocking ability

the board you picked is a business class board and the one picked is an enthusiast consumer board. I thought the prices might be very close and there are allot of cheaper boards that are z87 also. just something to consider.

another idea is to go up to the k series of haswell for the i5. This would leave room for future growth by overclocking. the asus mother boards do teh overclocking automatically for you so there is no knowledge needed and there system is very thorough.

this video is really long but you can see early in the video just how easy it is to get another 20% out of your chip in under 10 minutes of automated software running.

quick edit:
also the speed of the ram that you can use with your board should up also you can use up 2800 clocked ram instead of the usual 1600 or so
