[SOLVED] How hot should my AMD FX-6350 run?

It averages 60-62C when I'm running a game. and idles at 40-42 C when I'm just running chrome
I was told by a friend that is "a bit high" but he couldn't say if it was dangerously so or not.

If you are not seeing any signs of throttling, I'd not fret over it....

Monitor your temps with AMD Overdrive, check your thermal margin.
If its above 0, you are not having thermal issues.
If your thermal margin is at or below 0, you have thermal issues.

And what exactly is a "thermal margin"

Everything runs 100% fine like it always has, I only noticed cause I was having issues with a fan that was dying so I checked my temps first to try and diagnose what was happening and discovered one fan was running at half speed because its motor was dying. So I replaced it and have kept monitoring no performance dips or anything yet and everything seems normal now.

AMD overdrive is the only accurate way to measure FX series temperatures.
Thermal margin is essentially your distance from overheating.

I'd rather not download another bloody program to monitor my PC temps but if you say it works I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Considering its the only accurate way given AMDs way of reporting temps, and its the program designed for your processor, it should be the only one you need.
