I'm wondering that how long would the i5-6200U CPU (double core 2.3 GHz, turbo 2,8GHz) stay up to date taking into consideration that I use my laptop for normal daily net surfing, text processing, basic online (e.g runescape) and video&movie watching.

The laptop also includes Intel HD graphics 520 and 8GB RAM so how long would this set be able to go through the needed laptop usage tasks listed above.

Thanks for your help!

as for just the processor itself, it should be good for a fair few years for just basic computing, I think that something like 4-6 years (depending on how computing changes in those years, and depending on how your demands change), is something reasonable.

you can think about think like we think about the Core 2 dou and quad range today. it's fading away because of it's power, but it still can do *some* basic computing (for example, it can still run windows 10 and most of its funcions, but more advanced things are just not an option).

My old core 2 duo 2.1ghz, 4gb ram, 6570 still surfs, plays video, and plays games fine (world of tanks and some other games). 9 years old and still can do those basic tasks. The processing needs for those tasks won't be increasing besides higher res video so it will be enough long before you need a new pc.
