As I wrote in the title, I was wondering how long an i7 4770k will last, i mean since intel will release new and much better (apparently) CPUs in Q3 of this year is it worth upgrading when the new CPUs get released? or should I stick with my I7 4770k (This probably doesn't matter but, i bought it summer/autumn 2013). This is a list of my computer specs if you were wondering (probably not relevant)
Asus maximus VI hero
Nvidia GTX 580 (think manufacturer of the card is Gigabyte)
Kingston DDR3 HyperX Beast 8GB
Intel I7 4770k (obviously)

Edit:
I got to say, thank you to you all. I got the information I wanted and it seems like it isn't worth upgrading it just for gaming, thank you everyone yet again.

It should last 2-3 years without it starting to lose performance any voltage and overclocking teaking; and alot longer, but keep in mind, the older it gets the more the performance will start to suffer.

CPUs don't lose performance, there are just other better ones out there. In 5 years your CPU will be just as good as it is today, there may be better options out there but if your workload for it has stayed constant there won't be a particular need to upgrade.

Generally the gap in performance between generations is just a few percentage points, after 3 generations(assuming no major architectural leaps like nehelem versus core 2) there will be a CPU out there that will give you a notable enough performance jump to justify the new cost. The problem lately with CPU upgrades is how quickly we have been moving through sockets, in two years you will likely need to change sockets to change CPUs which will require a motherboard swap and reinstalling windows so it becomes not as worth it for a small upgrade.

When new hardware comes out then you will have the numbers to be able to decide if the upgrade is worth it for you, if they release a special instruction set for something you deal with a lot it might be, but it is impossible to tell if an upgrade will be worth it until you know how well the new stuff performs.
