I agree, but I didn't put that into the article and here's why: I'm not confident that disabling the cores through software would have provided accurate temperature and power usage data compared to actual retail CPUs with varying amounts of CPU cores.
It looks like there's been enough interest in this story for some follow-up articles where I'll explore more of these issues though!
