How many fans can I hook up to this computer?

I just bought Asus - Desktop - AMD A10-Series - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive Model: M32BF-B03 to replace my custom built machine that that I spent about $1400 on with all high end parts and only lasted 3 years. I know there's only one thing wrong with it but I don't know exactly which one it is and could easily spend another $700 trying to pinpoint exactly which part I need so I bought this new POS.

I instantly went in and upgraded the RAM to 16gb and was thinking about throwing my aftermarket heatsink in there as well. The problem I'm having is when I try to run any games I can hear this computer revving up like crazy. I opened the case up again and notice something strange. It has zero fans in it. I didn't even know computers came without fans. It has the heatsink on the cpu but that's it so I can only assume that when I play a big game that heatsink is cranking up as much as it can to keep the cpu cool. I have 1 spare fan I found a spot for on the motherbaord but that's all I see. I'm really hoping I'm missing something.

Does anyone know if the motherboard in here can handle more than 1 fan?

Thanks

do you have any spare 4 pin molex connectors on the power supply? just buy 3 pin fan to 4 pin molex adapters if you cant find another fan connector on the motherboard and connect them to the psu instead, does the same thing

You do not have to attach a fan to the motherboard, you can also attach them to the power supply.

If the fan has a 3 pin connector, plug it into the motherboard. Orient the fan to draw in air from the front of the case if you can.
It should be sufficient.

If the fan has a 4 pin molex connector, attach it directly to the psu.

thanks for just repeating what I said :pfff:

This is the first stock computer I've messed around with. The PC I built had a psu that I could see and had plenty of the 4 pin molex connections that you're talking about but this psu is in some metal cage. Do I have to take the case apart to get to it?

Yes, you at least need to take the side covers off.
If for no other reason to be able to mount a fan on the inside.
Look for cables leading out of the psu where you can attach a fan.
I think what you are calling a metal cage is the psu itself.
A OEM PC will usually come only with a minimal power supply that will run only what was originally installed.

Hah yeah I know I need to take the sides off. That's also how I went about everything else I did in there. I don't think the metal cage is the psu itself only because there is a hole in it where all the wires are bunched up together and go through the hole. I haven't seen to many psu's that have 1/2" holes in the side and no plug. I'm no computer genius but if I opened the case and saw connections plugged directly to the psu then I'd know what to do with it.

What I'm wondering is if I need to take apart that case that the psu is enclosed in?

Here is a good example of what I'm talking about. This isn't my computer but the psu looks the same. All the wires bunched together and going inside a metal case.

That is the psu.

If you look carefully at the pic, on the bottom right you see some double ended white molex connectors.
You can use those to attach fans with molex connectors.
They can be daisy chained much like connecting strings of Christmas lights.

Thanks everybody. Took me a while to get what you were all trying to say. I don't need to connect anything directly to the psu cause i have plenty of extra connections already there.
