I have 16gb of RAM, and recently it uses 250 MB of "memory" (according to task manager). This is 100 mb more than what it uses, which I find unusual

I am suspicious about the added 100mb because, in the past, when my system had a trojan miner, it was using 250-350 mb of memory, too; so I am wondering if this is because of a possible virus or just normal usage

And I will suggest that the 250 MB is a fraction of overall RAM and if constantly monitored the amount may go up and down depending on what all is happening on the system or has happened.

Some download, an update, any activity that launches a scan.

It would be more of a problem if the 250 MB goes way, way up and maybe stays there.... Especially if the system is inactive. No apps being run.

Also use Resource Monitor and Process Explorer to learn more about what your system is doing at any given time.

You may need to download Process Explorer (free) via Microsoft's website.

Another source for system information is Task Scheduler. Get a sense of what...
...................................it uses 250 MB of "memory".....................

That's not an indication of malware activity. If its CPU usage was constantly high then that may be cause for concern but I can't see anything to worry about with what you've posted so far.

You installed Malwarebytes last week and both security apps are effective so it's likely that there's nothing sinister going on.
