Gees I was struggling between a new external SATA, then the highly
touted Maxtor One-touch (USB2.0 vs USB/FireWire -this being no Apple
BTW!). Then those saying do it to that new DVD burner you got, Hoss!

Sheesh!
I bet some smart fella has wrote a nice review of the various choices
open to SOHO guys, or dilletantes like me with just email and web
profiles, above all, but a homebuilt antsy machine with OC'd P4C and
watercooling and it belches smoke and reboots into DiscChk ifn I run 2
apps at once. OK you might say it's a trifle unstable.

But I don't want to lose all my email, nor bookmarks nor precious copies
of AllYerBase and not my Log-Ins or MP3, etc.

So- is there a recent primer for soho or enthusiastist?
"If you're finally serious abt what we've been begging you to do for
years, Back-Up Hoser!"

I'd read it, well scan it anyway.

Good grief!

I never cease to be amazed at the variation possible in (nominally) one
language.

Errm, what was the question again?

I'll make it short... probably Drive Image with an
external USB/firewire drive.

I'd make it slightly longer - Drive Image, True Image, or Ghost to an
external drive. Buy a bigger drive than you think you'll need.

Weekly full images and daily incrementals. If you have stuff you work
on daily that you need to keep backed up between incrementals, Second
Copy will make backups every 5 minutes, 5 hours, or whatever, if you
want.

I prefer True Image and Second Copy because they're really easy to
use, but all of them get the job done.

Well now you mention it.. I actually have two scottish sons-in-law, but
I've never understood a word they said either.

Mind you, by the time we're hitting the second bottle of single malt it
doesn't matter anyway.
