Annoyance: when work in the registry, it has been almost impossible to see which folder is open. How can I change the folder icon properties, or, highlight the open folder with the registry properties I am viewing so it is easier to spot that open folder?

Solution
You can't change the registry key icons.. well, anything is possible but it probably takes hacking the Windows base code so better forget it.. Highlighting selected keys is already done each time you select them... if you can see them highlighted, you may have the Appearance and Personalization color setting on a to light setting. Use a darker or stronger color from the Windows Personalize / Color settings. And you can always look in the Status bar for the registry key path to the open key.
