How to change the capacity of sd cards

Hello,
I am having a problem about my 4gb sd card and i want to reduce its actual capacity, from 4gb to 2gb is it possible? what is the process? I am hoping for your help guys...

What are you trying to accomplish by doing that?

Have you tried formatting/partitioning it with windows? This article http://www.online-tech-tips.com/free-software-downloads/formatting-sd-card/ suggests that the SD card formatting software gives you more efficient usage, but I'm not sure you can change the capacity there.
