Make sure, the shop accepts returns. If the card doesn't work, then return it.

What make/model card is it?
What are rest of your pc specs?
Make sure PSU is capable of providing enough power to this card.

You install graphics card into pc,
install all necessary drivers,
test the card in applications that utilize it.

Single most important fact. Secondary is How they accept returns, as in cash/credit returned, store credit etc. Not a big fan of store credit only, ppl like that have a bad habit of selling refurb garbage, knowing full well it'll get returned, and then you are on the hook for the store credit, needing to spend more to get a new item they guarantee Will work.
