How to connect to computers using lan cable in windows 7

I am not able to connnect two laptops using a LAN cabel.....
Plzz tell me the entire process

Use a crossover cable to connect the two. Enable file and printer sharing on both computers. Make sure both computers are set to automatically obtain an IP address. Make sure both computers belong to the same workgroup. If you make an identical account (user name and password) on each laptop, that will make things easier too.

NOTE: Don't list your email address on forums. It's an easy way to get spammed.
