How to Decrease Ping to Router?

I want to decrease ping from my Xbox One to my wireless router. The router is practically on the opposite side of the house. No, I cannot do powerline since the electricity by the router is on a separate circuit or whatever from the one by the Xbox. And no, I am not moving the modem and router by the Xbox nor am I going to run cable through my house to a switch or access point.

I am looking to upgrade my router possibly, I am unsure what type of router could give me a better ping. I have a Netgear WPN824 V2 - I've had it for a long time, I'm not even sure how long. I also have a very new and fast modem so absolutely no worries on the modem side.

Could anybody describe to me what in terms of wireless connectivity can be used to decrease ping? Would a router with dualband since it runs at 5Ghz instead of 2~Ghz help out? Because if the frequency is increased with the wavelength remaining constant, the speed should be almost doubled if I'm correct, allowing the Xbox's data to reach the router quicker, right?

By no means is my ping bad, but for FPS games I want it a bit faster.

I just ran a speedtest from an iPad held above my Xbox (since the Xbox doesn't show ping value) and I got 15ms ping to the server. So I guess I'm fine because that's pretty good. It must not be me, I guess it's just the Call of Duty servers that cause the latrency.

Yes, that's probably it.
