How To Determin If PSU Is Too Weak

XFX 780i Motherboard.
Kingston HyperX RAM 1066Mhz.
Zotac GTX260 216 Edition.
Corsair 450W VX Power Supply.
Western Digital Blue 320GB Hard Drive.
Antec 900 Gamers Case.
Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7.
DVD/R Drive.

What is the best way to determin if my PSU isn't strong enough. The problem is that my games lock up.

The official recommendation is for a 500 watt power supply with 36 amps on the 12 volt rail and two 75 watt, 6 pin PCI-e video power connections.

The Corsair VX450 is rated at 33 amps on the 12 volt rail and has just one 75 watt, 6 pin PCI-e power cable.

I know the GTX260 usually comes with a molex to 6 pin adapter so you could in theory convert two molex connections on the power supply to one 6 pin PCI-e connection.

There have been previous posts on this forum indicating some users have been able to run the GTX 260 using the VX450. A lot would depend on the configuration of the rest of the system and which games are played.

My best advice would be to consider getting a new power supply.

you would have been fine with even a corsair 550vx , but now if ur gettin a new one get a tx750 , they are 120 on newegg ! and will handle even sli/xfire with ease for future .

Yeah the TX750W is what im gonna go for but i live in the UK so wont be buying from newegg. So it could easily handle SLI GTX 260 yeah?
