Question how to disable Windows Update permanently

I don't understand why there's no option for LTSC-machines to put that update service to an end.

Im working now on it for 3 months, and no solution, no final solution.

As long as you use Windows, Microsoft will update it when they want to. You agreed to this when you started using Windows.

that's no answer, especially when I have to work with an LTSC-machine. there it's totally pointless.

Why is that a problem for you?

Cause the services behind it crashes a whole system of a LTSC-machine of a customer.
It's for a customer machine, there must not be any disturbances through the Windows Update services cause that interrupts the service software (the cam uses full capacity) and when there is any failure, all (very expensive) samples in the racks are ruined, and that's not an option.

I delay winupd for 30 days.
On the 30th day when the machine is not busy I run winupd.
Then I delay for another 30 days.
Wash/rinse/repeat.

you can't just delay, the services within the update service are still active in the system. you can't fix that this easy way, Mr.Myagi.

So you're going to break the system in other ways? And, mucking about with any system in the medical arena immediately triggers HIPPA (if you're in the US). Hope you have good lawyers and a huge bank account because you will be held personally responsible if a breach should occur.

Don't provide internet access to the hosts. No internet, then no windows update.

Well, actually that isn't exactly what is going to happen either. No matter what you do with a stock load of W10 it's either going to try to update, or it's going to pop up endlessly telling you it needs/wants to update.

The only suggestion I can make is to put the machine on W7 as you can turn off updating and notification on that OS. Of course you will have to see if it works with the programs/apps you need to run and should be aware of the security issues that go along with a (now) unsupported OS.

Business/Enterprise setups are different than just normal home setups. You can control how patches get sent to the system and deploy them after testing or work with the vendor of the software to figure out why their system crashes. Just disabling Windows Update for a business is risky and not a good idea for them or for you. Very bad practice from an IT pro view. I think the core issue here is that it seems the company is using just standard home PC setups without any extra work from IT to get them setup for their needs. That has to be done first. If the machines are legally licensed there is MS support for them, contact Microsoft and ask them how to manage updates to corporate systems, or just search online for resources for that.
