Question How to fix not working keyboard & mouse?

I had to replace a broken keyboard and I bought a replacement with a PS2 port. It wasn't working and I tried to look for solutions. I found out I need change the digits in the i8042prt from 3 to 1 and restarted my computer. It didn't work, so I got frustrated and tried to change the digit into 2. I restarted the PC and now my mouse didn't work also the keyboard. Now I can't access my pc. All the USB has power but the mouse cursor don't display. Hoping for a solution.

Make and model information for keyboard and mouse?

Did you at any time try to reinstall the drivers via a direct download from the manufacturer's website?

You might try rebooting via Safe Mode.

What other known working keyboards and mice do you have or can perhaps borrow?

When you attempted to change the digits (from 3 to 1) did you edit the registry?

If so, what process or procedure did you use? Link?

Did you back up the registry beforehand?

Registry edits are a last resort effort and should be done only after a full backup. All to easy to "brick" the pc.

What backups do you have? Images, a clone, recovery USB etc..?
