How to get DSL from my house to my shop-not wireless

can I have DSL in my home. I want DSL in my shop. phone line runs from house to shop. Shop is hundred feet away, both buildings have metal siding and roofs. I don't want a bridge Kit. I'm told I can't have two modems on same phone line. I see someone has connect through the house wiring, I can see you why I can't use my phone line.
A little help would be appreciated. thanks, River.

You can have 2 modems running on the same line, but, you cant have 2 modems plugging in seperately on each point. No matter what, to connect both the routers together, you will need either wireless connection or through cables. There's no any other way to do it unless you want to fork out another sum of money just entirely for your shop.

I have been reading for the last three hours and have found two possible solutions, maybe you could vet them for me. The first is what appears to be Lan over phone line, but it didn't look very fast, I'm still searching. The other is a powerline ethernet adapter Kit. the one I last viewed was a 85 Mbps Powerline Ethernet Adapter Kit. It says 200 m between devices. If this is possible it solves my problem. I would not need a modem in the shop, just one of these adapter toys. What do you think?

Alright, for Lan over phone line, which means you are going to use a splitter or converting your wall wires to support both phone and Lan port am i right? The thing is that you will still need to use a modem to get the network. Network doesnt just run through your phone line. When you get your router / modem set up, it will still be the same, there will only be connection to either your house or shop.

This Powerline adapter is an option, but Im not too sure about the whole layout of your house, and whether if they the electrical wires are connected between your house and shop. It must be shared to use the adapter. Though you might need to fork out a hefty sum for the adapters if you want a good pair.

well, between the house and the shop I buried a six pair stranded cable that I planned to use for other features beyond the phone. So I've got available pairs in that line to use. regarding electrical power lines I have a TED meter that I use in the shop for observing power consumption on certain projects. It has an inductor that goes around the cable that feeds my shop, and a data pulse, sends information from the panel to a remote device plugged into a wall outlet. So that is reading from roughly 100 feet away, I can take the remote from the shop, take in the house plug-in on the kitchen counter in it works fine there so although it's very low form of data it tells me there's throughput. I wired this place out here so from J Box to J box it's all laid out pretty linear.

Maybe I/I assuredly must be missing something. The way I see this is data enters the house at point A . I plug cable from the IP's modem into my little magic box on the wall. Little magic box on the wall plugs into a wall outlet, or to one of my stranded pair. Terminating in my shop. Where they, at the end of the run, give me a jack to plug the data cable in from magic box to laptop/desktop. Or maybe the end terminal has to have a router to plug into, I haven't actually stopped to read the installation instructions on these things yet. Eight hours of reading acronyms and looking them up has worn me out. I will be starting again tomorrow, I'm hoping to have a handle on this and the next day or two. I appreciate the fact that somebody's out there to talk to. The IP providers don't know squat or if they do they won't say it.

Anyway if you see I'm painting my picture incorrectly please tell me.

I just got an e-mail from my brother, he says I can buy a roll of HDMI cable for hundred dollars. So stupid or brilliant? if I could just figure out a way to utilize that six pair wire I buried. I wonder if a guy could energize the two ends, (the two magic boxes that you would plug into a wall outlet), and create a parallel circuit between the two with a couple of pair of my buried wire package. There would be no load on that wire, just signal transmission between the two transceivers. Does that make any sense or am I just too tired. Kind of like two tin cans on opposing ends of a string. Power up the cans,hook them to the string.

Lan over phone is out of the point in your case. If the cable you buried can be use to connect through your shop and your house, and if that's the case, just either use them to connect the router to your switch in the shop to get the connection.

As for the powerline adapter, im not too sure if you will be able to use them given the current situation you are in. You can try to get it from anyone you knew who has them.
