So I am trying to get my computer to run a little better. The one thing that I am having trouble with is my processor. I am trying to find things like driver updates and I can't seem to find them.

PC SPECS:

OS: Windows 8.1 64-Bit
CPU: AMD FX-6300
RAM: 16 GB Dual Channel DDR3
Motherboard: BIOSTAR A960D+
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2GB
HDD: 1TB 7500RPM, Western Digital

Where can I find the driver updates for my CPU?
Any tricks/tips to make my CPU run better/more efficient?

Solution
choose the driver that matches your o.s vista/win7/8 64bit.
CHIPSET: Operating System:Windows Vista x64/ 7 x64 9.12 2012-04-23 69.44 MB
you will have to wait and see if they release a win 8.1 specific driver but its likely not needed as the above 1 should work properly.

as for the bios its not needed unless its needed. dont update it unless you really need to because you run the risk of bricking the motherboard.
also just because its the latest doent mean its the best.
but if you must then
78LMP317.BSS Update BIOS code 2048 KB 2014-03-17 is the 1 you want.

getting into bios is normally the del key at the splash screen.
but it may be F1, F2 or F12 as its biostar.

the only driver updates you will need are on the motherboard site as far as the cpu goes. enabling and using amd cool and quiet in bios will set your cpu to energy saving. as a result it will dynamically clock itself, enable and disable cores all to save energy.
also check out amd overdrive it may give you some options you need.
if you can get a better gpu.
for gfx go to the nvidia site.

Better gaming or just in general? If it's gaming, you need to get a new video card. If it's general try upgrading to an SSD. Trust me, once you get an SSD you will never go back to mechanical hard drives. You have enough memory and your processor is fine for either.

Like the above user said, disable all your power saving features on your cpu like C1 State, C1E, Cool n Quiet, etc.. You should get more performance disabling those features that are intended for laptops with batteries in mind.
