how to get the sound back on the pc foor free

i lost the sound o my pc and every where i turn they push around and ask for payment which i cant afford. Please if anyone can help step by step instruction are need, ps. i lost it after formatting the pc with a disk but no longer have the disc

when i try to install real tec 97 it says cant find the restore file it starts creating it and gets stack half way through it looks for a file name i take it to the driver nothink
