The current windows version is XP, but I believe that the original was
Windows 2000 or something close. Everything that I open is bigger than the
actual screen, be it Internet Explorer or any other program, so that I'm
always having to readjust window size or scroll the cursor past the margins
to get to the rest of the info. Even the desktop background picture is huge,
far beyond the parameters of the monitor. This makes it really annoying when
trying to click an icon, or to click the start botton, or check the time on
the bottom right, because it's all out there and I have to scroll all over
the place to get to these icons. Any suggestions.

I've tried to augment the resolution but nothing changed.

If what you are attempting to describe is that: the display is outside of the
physical size of the monitor.

Then try changing the physical dimensions from the monitor control panel.
These allow for Vertical Size [increase or reduce to fit the display image
within the physical viewable are], Horizontal Size[increase or reduce to fit
the display image within the physical viewable are] then Vertical Alignment
[move up or down to centre display within veiwable area], Horizontal
Alignment [move left or right to centre display within veiwable area], other
settings alter geometry [changing slope - diagonal, or squaring the
trapeziodal shape etc] and pincushion [changing the roundness of the edges].

Look up your manual to see how to access these on your display if there
isn't a panel or series of buttons on the front of the monitor.

Hi Paul,

You might want to increase the screen resolution. Right click on the desktop and select properties and flip to the
settings tab and move the screen resolution slider towards your right.
