How to Install Windows 10 on a PC

When the consumer version of Windows 10 is released, you may want to upgrade to the latest and greatest.

Before you begin installing Windows 10 on your desktop PC or laptop computer, there are a few prerequisites. The prerequisites include:

[listNum]■A compatible desktop PC or laptop computer with 1 GB of RAM for 32-bit version or 2 GB of RAM for 64-bit version of the OS.
■The PC must have minimum 1 GHz processor. (The faster the better.)
■Minimum 16 GB of free hard disk space. (The more the better.)
■An active Internet connection. (Optional – For Microsoft Account)
■Windows 10 installation DVD. (You can burn the downloaded .ISO image of the operating system on a DVD using any disc burning tool.)

Here is how you can install Windows 10 on your desktop computer or a laptop PC:

■Power on your PC.
■Use the appropriate key or key combination to enter the BIOS setup of your PC.
■Configure the BIOS settings with the CD/DVD as the first boot device.
■Insert a Windows 10 installation DVD disc.
■Save the BIOS settings and restart the PC with DVD support.
■On the first window that appears on the screen, select the appropriate time, currency settings and language from the available drop-down lists.
■Click Next to proceed.



■On the next interface, click Install now.



■On the License terms page, check the I agree the license terms checkbox and click Next.



■On the Which type of installation do you want page, click the Custom: Install Windows only (advanced) option.



■On the Where do you want to install Windows interface, make sure that hard disk drive on which you want to install the operating system is selected.
■From the available options, click New and in the available field, specify the amount of space that you want to assign to the system partition (i.e. C: drive).



■Click Apply, and on the displayed information box, click OK.



■Once done, click to select the newly created partition from the list, and click Next to install Windows 10 on the selected volume.



Note: Alternatively, you can also click the Next button without specifying the partition size. This way, the entire hard disk can be assigned to the system drive.
■Wait until the installation begins and completes successfully, and the computer restarts.



■On the displayed window after the system restart, click the Use express settings button to allow Windows to configure the recommended settings on the OS for you automatically. (This will save you some time.) Alternatively you can also click the Customize (used here) button to manually configure the initial Windows 10 settings before you start using the operating system.



■On the Settings window, click Yes to confirm that the PC will be used in office or home (or in any other trusted network). If the PC is to be used at a public place such as a coffee shop, you must click No for security reasons.



■On the next page, use the slider bars to enable or disable their corresponding features in the operating system.
■Click Next to continue.



■Do the same on the next couple of windows and click Next on each of them to proceed.






■Once done, wait till the account setup window appears.



■On the Sign in to your Microsoft account page, provide your Microsoft account’s credentials (username and password) and click Next.



Note: If you don’t have a Microsoft account, you can click the Create a new account link, and on the next window populate the fields to create a new Microsoft account. You can also click the Sign in without Microsoft account option from the bottom of the page to create and use a local account.






■On the next window, provide your email address in the available field, and click Next.



■Once done, check your email inbox, get the security code and type the code in the available field on the Enter the code you received window.



■Click Next and wait until Windows verifies your code and sets up your account for you.



■Once everything is set up and you are logged on to your account successfully, you can start using Windows 10 on your computer normally.
