Hello,

I have a problem that i installed windows 10 with csm enabled so when i go into bios and turn off csm my system doesn't boot up and there is no boot options. I want to reinstall it with csm disabled but i don't know how. I have windows 10 home 64bit original usb stick. I don't know what to do i need help.

My PC specs are: Mobo: gigabyte b360m ds3h
cpu: i3 8100
gpu: msi gtx 1050ti
psu: 600w xfx
ram: goodram iridium 2133 mhz 2x 4gb
hdd: toshiba 1tb

CSM and UEFI boot completely differently so yeah, can't just swap to UEFI without making some changes. Curious though, does PC boot if you swap back to CSM as there is a way of doing this without reinstalling windows 10

Main difference between UEFI & CSM is disk formats.
CSM uses MBR
UEFI uses GPT

You can change an MBR disk to GPT and then swap the boot method to UEFI. and it should work. Here are 4 ways, 2 without data loss, 2 with data loss - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/85750-convert-mbr-disk-gpt-disk-windows-10-a.html

Why do you want to change anyway? The main advantage to GPT over MBR is max size of hdd, MBR can only use 2.2tb hdd, GPT can use 18.8million TB. As you only have 1tb, it might be a waste of time.

How do i fix the black screen before login then? And my computer is very very slow but i don't know if this is the reason.

I have the latest drivers but it's still very slow, i know everything is ok with the computer since it's brand new. I have latest bios aswell. The black screen lasts for a while but it is a black screen with this loading thingy. I need further help.

Your motherboard should have defaulted to UEFI if Win 10 was 1st thing installed on it.

Boot Option Priorities
Specifies the overall boot order from the available devices. Removable storage devices that support GPT format will be prefixed with "UEFI:" string on the boot device list. To boot from an operating system that supports GPT partitioning, select the device prefixed with "UEFI:" string.

What that means is you choose the USB in listing that has UEFI before its name (See page 29 of motherboard manual)

Turn off fast boot as well, its on same tab as the above quote

That should be all you need to do to Install win in UEFI mode. When you clean install, delete all partitions on the hdd or you will get an error saying Win 10 can tell this machine supports UEFI and wants to use GPT. Also, when you reach page asking for license key, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue and reactivate itself once finished.

If changing format doesn't speed up boot, there is something else at play.

but the problem is that when i turn off csm it doesn't see my usb in boot listings what to do with it?

How did you make the USB? Did you use media creation tool?
Do you put USB in before you start PC? Are you using the rear USB slots?

is fast boot off or on? If on, there should be a choice called USB Support, change that to Full initial as All USB devices are functional in the operating system and during the POST

It's an official windows 10 home 64bit usb stick, i use front slots, fast boot is off.

Go to bios... the press f5 to load the default vslues...now navigate to Boot menu. Secure boot on, csm settings set as described below.

You'll have to reinstall Windows with UEFI and CSM enabled, but this time select:
Boot device control: Uefi only
Network
Removable media
PCIe
..... set all options to UEFI only.
Save changes and exit.

Now after that reboot, you might see boot drive not found.

Turn off PC force power off. Unplug power cord and press the power on button and keep pressing until the power is discharged from the components... removing battery cmos or restring jumper helps but not necessary to do in ur case.

Monitor off too and unplugged. Then everything plugged back before you press power on button on pc. Monitor also set to factory reset if possible. Different outputs usually screws the settings if you tried one than more on that monitor in the past.

Make sure you create uefi media rufus is great for that. It will give you the option to only go uefi and then format ur flash drive accordingly (gpt)

power cord back. Plug in uefi win10 setup drive into usb3 back side...first port. Also. I'd disconnect the front usb header...to be on the safe side. Same goes for any wlan or external devices, disconnect the cdrom drive too. It screw up things....

Power on the PC. And, If you've a newer mobo then press f8 to get the boot selection screen,
otherwise, press DEL or F2 to enter uefi bios and then force to boot from that usb.

Continue with the installation. If you don't find ur ssd, you'll need drivers. Also convert it too gpt...shift+ f10, diskpart.exe presx enter
List disk press enter
Select disk 0(assuming that's ur OS ssd)
Clean
Convert gpt
Exit
Exit

Refresh drives. Select that drive and click format. Then select the primary part of it disk0, and format and then next....

Don't unplug ur media drive until you see Windows screen . Safely unplug it thru task bar.

Hope that helps. If you are using HDMI and played with DVI-d or I in the past, you and I are in the same boat then... don't have anything plugged into any audio jacks if you're using only HDMI cable.. mixing sound outputs will cause that black screen issue.

Let me know if you have any confusion.

What chipset you have? Don't use any legacy drivers once Windows is finished. Let it download drivers from the updates. Your win8 drivers might cause issues.
