I want to make a system backup for windows and all my other documents in their current state. I cant do a backup thru usb drive since i have none that are large enough. How would i make a "partition" on my hard drive so that i can use it as a future restore point in case i have issues?

How big is your hard drive? How much data is used on it?
Can you post screenshot from Disk Management.

Assuming there's enough space for backup partition you can use Aomei onekey recovery.
You can download it from Major Geeks (2nd or 3rd download link):
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/aomei_onekey_recovery.html
(free version has been pulled from official site, but Major Geeks still have it)

my hard drive is a terabyte and has roughly 850gb free. would using this tool allow me to make a "backup" of everything on my current Hard drive and store it on the same Hard drive?

thanks mate, when i first tried to do a backup and it restarted it glitched into an endless "welcome to windows" loop. i went into boot options and just booted from last successful boot. everything seems fine now :) did you ever experience this?
