So I've got:
A: Super fine $$ PC with the OS installed on an Intel SSD-X25 (?) 128GB system drive and a Seagate Constellation ES magnetic drive for all my files. (i7-920-6gbOCZ-AsusP6T-Dual1GB275GTX)
B: A Facebook-zombie daughter asking me for a new computer because her (virus-infected) laptop is too slow.

= C: Find a way to create a user account in Windows 7 Pro that will quarantine EVERY DAMN ASSOCIATED FILE OF HERS away from my SSD. Currently I have my own Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc. aliased (or whatever it's called), but never did figure out the ultra-frugal method of relocating my entire user account to my big Seagate drive since the extra space was nominal given all the room I have on the SSD.

Also: Since I have yet to run my SVG on her disk, any tips on migrating her old (Dell - Vista - no DVD drive) laptop user account data to her new account on my PC VIRUS-FREE would be greatly appreciated. I read the thread on viruses (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/7754-63-guide-preventing-viruses-spyware) and was a little confused by this:
Once the latest virus definitions are installed, run a full scan of your hard drive. Even if you have a lot of files, DO NOT STOP THE SCAN. This can be a very lengthy operation and you're simply going to have to wait it out, because the alternative is not pretty. When the scan is complete, remove all files reported as infected.

Thank you so much in advance!

Haven't been on this forum for a while. I look forward to reading the latest from the community!

>I like that Virtual PC idea. Thanks!

>I intend on rebuilding the laptop, indeed, for that reason, but with no DVD drive, I'll have to put the Vista Ultimate disc in my PC's optical drive and hook them up with a crossover ethernet cable (I'm guessing)

It's just that I would like to give her the opportunity to get behind the wheel of this machine to learn processor intensive programs like Photoshop.

The laptop should have a recovery partition I cant remeber how to access it? F10? I accessed one by F8 choose to load into safe mode, while it was booting crashed it, and I saw the Recovery option.

Either way you will need to pull her data off before a factory restore

check the bios settings for the dell, see if you can boot from usb or some other flash media, in which case you could install from usb. if you can connect two machines to your router then you don't need a cross over cable.
