How to open ports 443 and 1194

I have a home server which runs on Amahi (Fedora Linux 24). I have set it up as a NAS and DLNA media server. Now I want to set up VPN in the same, for access when I'm away. I installed an OpenVPN plugin in my Amahi HDA.

The various wikis suggest that I should forward port 1194/UDP for letting the VPN traffic pass through. Likewise, I initially forwarded port 1194/UDP from my netgear AC750 router for my Amahi HDA. But no matter what I did, it didn't work. I checked the port on an 'open port checing' website, and it returned that the port isn't open.

Then I referred to troubleshooting, where it was suggested that port 443/TCP can be a failsafe alternative ( it kinda never fails, duh!). Likewise I did the same on my router, and again tested if it works on the 'open port checking' website. The website said it to my face that the port isn't open.

What's the way around this? Like I'm told that only ports 1194 and 443 can be used for VPN; I'm outta my resources, knowledge and ports as I checked both the ports with no luck.

Please help.

Also suggest if there is some other way to set up VPN services for accessing my amahi HDA.

I didn't get you 🙁 . I'm not a very knowledgeable guy in networking, so can you please be a bit more elaborate and maybe, guide me through the process?

I have a 3-router setup in my house, one master and two slaves connected LAN-LAN to the master

Is NAT the same as DHCP?

If so, I have disabled DHCP on both the slaves; the master only handles DHCP for the overall home-network. The slave routers are connected to the master in access point mode, i.e wired in, wi-fi / ethernet out.
