how to plug asus r9 280 to power supply unit vs 650 with connector?

but gpu has both 8pin and 6pin connection provision on its end, should i fill up both places. coz only spot is filled which is 8pin one in gpu

One of your 6+2 to fill the 8, then only use the 6 of the other 6+2 in the 6 pin connector leave the odd (+2) loose
