hey,
currently i am using a genuine version of windows 10 cracked with a cracker [mod edit](the computer store guy did it); but i intend to buy an actual windows. what is the process to replace the cracked OS with a real one without losing my data? also, all my information is in the HDDs and only the SSD has the windows 10 loaded.
suppose i buy a real windows 10 with serial number... what after that, please elaborate the steps to activate it for lifetime (including any required hardware changes). also mention the precautions to be taken and risks to be kept in mind. Is it safe to do it own my own or do i need any professional guidance?
thanks in advance

if you can find a way to make sure kmspico is completely removed from your PC then you can go into settings and reinstall windows 10 with the option that will allow you to keep your data. depending on how paranoid you are about it though it might be best to backup all your important data and do a fresh install of windows 10

Follow the guide above on how to replace your pirated key with a genuine one. Of course, backing up your data is very imporant, so do a backup before putting the genuine key in. If that does not work, then you will need to reinstall windows with the genuine key.

hey
i read the article and it was informative.
however, i did not get this part...
"Also, remember that you must be signed in with an administrator account to change your system's product key, "
what is an administrator account?
also, as captaincharisma advised, do i have to uninstall kmspico before inputting the genuine product license?
thanks

Administrative account as in someone who has full control over the system. If you created the account and granted the privileges, then you have administrative rights.

This link will help you see if you have admin rights on your account.

hey,
read the article, and followed the instructions
"
Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10
The easiest way to check if your user account has admin rights on the computer is by accessing the User Accounts in Windows.
  1. Access the Control Panel.
  2. Click on the User Accounts option.
  3. In User Accounts, you should see your account name listed on the right side. If your account has admin rights, it will say "Administrator" under your account name."
i found out that i am the 'local account administrator'
so, i just have to uninstall kmspico and input the genuine license key i guess
any other thoughts are welcome

honestly mate, I would backup and verify all my data and do a Clean install , then link that to your Microsoft Account so you never lose it

This is the safe way to do it, period. I would not want to be working with a Windows 10 installation that started out its life cracked.

Since one can easily get brand spankin' new install media using the Media Creation Tool from the Windows 10 Download Page, that's what should be done. A product key can be used with any installation media, and using anything other than "the freshest" when it comes to Windows 10 is a mistake.

I wouldn't even bother with a full system image backup of the existing system, though I would definitely get a backup of the user data, which sounds like it's all on its own drive to begin with.
