Soo.. I have an old HDD 320GB and I really want to make use of it to save money. So I tried connecting it to the motherboard and.. My anti virus program (AlYac, the most widely used anti virus on Korea) was using up 98%~100% of my ram (8GB)! So I disconnected the HDD, deleted AlYac, and my PC Became fine. Is this because of the HDD or was it the program fault? If it was by the HDD, how can I reset it without having problems on my PC? Also a completely irrelevant question but what is the point of SteamOs? Does it optimize games for you? I'm very interested in it.
Thanks~

Hey there 18parkky. This sounds a bit strange. I doubt that it should max up your RAM even while doing a full scan of your computer, but I have never used this program myself, so I can't tell for sure. Do you have any data you need from that HDD or you just want to use it for the extra storage space?
If you don't want to recover anything from the drive, I'd recommend that you format the drive and scan your computer with the anti-virus program again (with updated database), because if there was a virus or other threads on the old HDD, you might have infected the system.
I'd also recommend that you download the manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test the drive for errors and bad sectors with it.

As for SteamOS you could take a closer...

As for SteamOS you could take a closer look at its features here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SteamOS
It does say that it optimizes graphics and gaming experience, but I haven't had any experience with it myself, yet. So I guess you could just try and see for yourself if there's any difference from running your games from Windows or Mac OS X.

Hope that helps.
