How to set up the audio device

the mic doesnt work and iam vista windows and every time i plug the mic in and record they answer there is no audio device
what shall i do

Right click on the Speaker in the notification area of the taskbar.
Select Recording devices.

Also, check the Device Manager.
What is listed in the Sound category?
Can you post an image of your Device Manager?
