Hey everybody! I was wondering how to test stability on DDR3 ram timings. I really want to lower mine and decrease the ram speed so i can overclock my CPU a little bit more. I already know how to lower the timings and speed, but i don't know exactly how to test if their stable. Any help would be great!! :)

Memtest is the slow way, really meant to test for bad RAM modules IMO.

If you know your CPU is stable (isolate the CPU by making the RAM really slow/high timings and run small FFT in Prime 95 or a LOT of smaller stress setting runs in Intel Burn Test) then just set the RAM to what you want to try and either do Blend tests in Prime 95 or High/Very High stress tests in Intel Burn Test.

If you use an AMD CPU I don't know if IBT works but you should be able to do OCCT or LinX. Prime95 definitely will work.

My CPU is stable yes, but would'nt the ram stress test in orthos work. i just remembered that 😛 and its kingston 1333 1GB and i have 4 sticks of it if that helps any at all.

JEDEC is the minimum specs the memory should run at. JEDEC 1 is for 914mhz 6-6-6-18, #2 is 1066mhz 7-7-7-20, and I think 1333mhz is 8-8-8-24. You can only lower timings so much for any given speed. If you have 1333mhz RAM, it's probably running at CL8 and you MIGHT be able to do CL7 at 1.65V but I would only do that if it's rated for that voltage.

Otherwise you could try running it at 1600mhz CL9, 1800mhz CL10 etc. Speed and timings have to move together.

Alright, thanks! but i tried to lower my ram imings and.... I'm notsure which ones to lower 😛 I thought I knew how but apparently I don't. i tried and it threw up an error on start up, but i didnt lower my ram fequency i just tightened the timings. Maybee that had something to do with it?

@demo , it's simple for oC RAM just check vdim don't over 1.65 (ddr3) and test stability use IBT (intelburn Test) set 20 loop and Set Maximum or Very high for RAM.. and fulload test your ram run at 90-95% wow if your setting Ram wrong you will get fail massage 😀
