how to update mobo bios

the motherboard manufacture should be printed on the motherboard, along with model number. with this info, got manufacture motherboard website, and there should be instructions, for any certain program you might need, and what type of "bios" file you might need. normally the files are located on same page. and perhaps 1 to 3 additional linked pages of step by step instructions which you can normally print out.

some are for windows, some are for linux/unix, some are for usb drives. personally would favor the usb drive method. and making sure you make a backup copy of current bios before updating.

if the system is dell, gateway or like computer were manufacture put individual components together, and not a (custom/diy built...
go to the vendor web page for the mb and download the last bios file for the motherboard. unzip it and move it to a usb stick. plug in the usb stick and reboot and go into the bios. in the bios under utility tab is the bios updater for the mb. run it and point to the usb stick with the unzip bios file.

if the system is dell, gateway or like computer were manufacture put individual components together, and not a (custom/diy built computer). goto given manufacture website (dell, gateway, etc..) and look up your model number for your computer, and they will give you more likely a specialized bios update program and bios update file, along with instructions in how to update bios.

most companies stay pretty good to above rules. (not all the time) but majorty of the time.
if computer is bran new state of the art, there may not be any bios updates.
