i recently d-loaded and installed svc paks 1 & 2 for win xp pro. After doing
so my dvd/cd rom drive no longer reads cds and no longer creates backups. How
do I completely get rid of these service paks? There are some files that
rewrite themselves after i delete them.

Why not fix the problem, here is one idea. I've not had any
problems so can't say whether this is the best or easiest
fix. Just check Google and you should find something to fix
your problem.

Do you have CD burning software installed? If yes, have you check the
application's website for updates and made sure your version is in fact XP
compatible, have you tried removing and reinstalling the burning software?
