Question How would I replace a gen5 2TB NVMe with a gen5 4TB NVMe in slot 1?

The main OS (WIN 11 Home) is on the current gen5 2TB in slot 1. That is my concern here. If I make this change, can I just copy and paste? I made an attempt to backup "local disc C" and place it on a portable SSD, but the only things that seem to have copied are the non-Windows files. That is why I seek help, I don't know. I don't have much on the local disc other than Steam and some game files, "Fan Control," and MSI AIO files and Win 11. I could do a clean-install of WIN 11 and then paste the other files.

I am planning on placing the gen5 2TB into the slot 3 and I have a gen4 2TB NVMe in slot 2.

This is a gaming desktop and any games I load I want them to go on the slot 1 drive. I want the larger disc in slot 1 in order to somewhat future proof things, as well as take advantage of the extra cooling of the CPU fan and the other advantages of slot 1. (I am assuming that the gen5 4TB drive will be better in slot 1 than slot 3, maybe it would not matter).

Anyway, I appreciate any help you may offer. (Hopefully this is not covered in a tutorial because I did not look. :))

Thanks

Check with the MSI whether the lanes bifurcate, Split, as you put multiple NVME drives in. Best bet is to use Biggest fastest NVME drive in slot one and do a clean install. Dont forget to backup your encyption key if you have bitlocker on.
