The computer is a simple sandy bride build with mini atx motherboard with I5 2500 processor and 2x4 GB ram

Current Symptom: computer starts no graphic

History: the computer has worked but after heat sink replacement something went wrong and the motherboard burned.
There were first a small fire next to ATX contact. After this fans etc still worked. I removed CPU and tested starting the computer now another component burned. So I am afraid that the CPU acted as a protector. I am afraid it got damaged.

Sins the motherboard was with 100% certainty damaged I got a new one. Now the computer starts but no POST or any graphic. I only use on board graphic.

Sins a new CPU is quite expensive I would like to explore all possibilities before I buy a new CPU.

Did you put anything in the new setup that you had in the old one besides the cpu ? It would be helpful to list all the components from the old setup and the new setup. Just from what little info you have given I would say the cpu got damaged ,but like I said I would like to see all the components before I would say that for sure. Where you using onboard graphics or do you have a discrete video card , did you put back the same ram sticks ?
