HP 1484 MOBO

Does anyone know if this mobo will support dual core? It's a laptop mobo. I have searched intel and there may be some dual core options, but I can't find anything on this board.

yeah, their online live tech chat is useless. I talked to someone last night asking for my motherboard specs and here's what th dufus gives me:

Doesnt tell me anything about the board! I did however downgrade my bios from F.24 to F.16, F.16 says supports newer intel processors! Thats the best info I have gotten from HP, they suck. So I will take my chances and buy either a T6600 or T8100

Make sure that what is in there is the same socket as you plan to install.

Yeah, the T6600, 8100 are both Penryn socket P 478. So I will buy one and cross my fingers 😱

Confirmed by a person on an HP thread, I can go with T6600 and T6670 also can try the T8100

Hey did you give this a go? My laptop as the same board and i also want to upgrade my CPU, If you successfully managed to upgrade. It would be great if you could tell me what you manage to upgrade to and if theres a noticeable performance increase.

Have you experienced any over heating problems? and was the CPU its self easy to replace?

No heat problems because intels speed step technology doesnt use the whole cpu all the time. Once I got the laptop apart, it was as easy as replacing the cpu in your desktop. Find your laptops schematic that way u dont break it taking it apart.

I'm having a similar issue with this. I have the same motherboard and very similar specs as to the above. My model # is WQ668UA#ABA and am considering an upgrade for the CPU. With the limited and almost non-existant information that HP has given me I don't know the limits the motherboard can handle. Can anyone give me a hand with this?

Thanks for the info. It does help a bit but still not sure what all the mobo will provide support for. To my understanding the mobo has to be able to support some of the same capabilities of the processor to use them. The T9500 does look like a good step up for the cpu.

I received hp's "support," it was laughable indeed. When I resubmitted the question with deeper explanation, I got the specs on a different product. They then said they didn't have the capabilities to help me with any more detailed information and directed me to call the hp support #.

Yeah. That's them lol. I wasn't sure what my mobo would support either, I would say you have a better chance of it working than not. Its kinda a crap shoot.

I'm almost positive it should work for you.just remember when putting in the new cpu to use good high performance thermal compound. The only good thing is that when upgrading intel has speedstep which only uses what it needs from the cpu so it doesnt overheat in the laptop

What about when playing games that's intensive on the cpu processing??? I've been playing Starcraft II with my current one but the usage of the cpu is extensive even on the lowest settings.

You should be good with the upgrade I would think. You can get up into the 70s with a laptop, I would just buy a really good laptop cooler and use good thermal compound.
