HP 17-T 3-4 years Old random programs launching?

So my 3-4 year old HP-17T, Win 10 laptop randomly launches programs located in the taskbar. I am assuming it's a dirty or failing keyboard which probably isn't worth fixing considering external plastic case is not doing well either. I am also having a lot of trouble getting what keys I press to actually show on screen. At fist I thought it was 63 year old fingers but I can clearly see the numbers across the top don't respond or get doubles.
Anything else I can check?
BTW I can not even touch the computer and a program will launch

I am not familiar enough with the Envy line of laptops to know if they can be user serviced. Would probably be worthwhile to see if there are online instructions or video that discuss opening the unit and "replacing" the keyboard. In the case that you can get in there I would then decide if it were worthwhile to attempt to clean said, or just install a replacement, and once again, this is rather assuming one is available and that you can find the model # and part.
