I have an HP 6730b laptop running Windows 7 and the wireless connection went from being intermittent to not working at all. I cannot see the wireless card in the device manager and have tried installing any and all drivers I can find. The wireless card in the laptop is an Intel but I do have a 459263-001 card and was wondering if it would work?

Let me know your thoughts and thanks!

Those HP guys really like to control how their products are used (read: get their hands into users' pockets) and have a whitelist of compatible cards you can use (limited in BIOS). Check the MANUAL (chapter 3) for a list of compatible parts.

Thank you for your response! I took a chance and put the 459263-001 card I had in the laptop even though it didn't match to the manual. It worked!

You are SO right about these laptops too -- I fully expected it not to, especially after seeing a different part number recommended.

Guess I go lucky.

And I REALLY appreciate the link to the manual as well.

Have a great week and a Happy Holiday!
