Anybody experience a sort of gear grinding noise in HP 930C when the
paper is advancing. Prints OK but quite noisy, can't find bits of paper
or anything else that may be interfering.

Oil the rollers - sewing machine, clock or gun oil should do the trick. Some
suggest WD40, but there are conflicting schools of thought about this.

My great-grandfather was born and raised in Elgin - did he eventually

Sorry about that, my ISP is funky and refused the 1st post, which I
re-sent, and then BOTH of them came thru, go figure.????

BTW where should the rollers be oiled, at the bearing ends, and which
ones, those that show with back cover open?
Trying to help my daughter in Calif, so I'm working from an online manual.
