i'm also looking at this printer as a replacement for my aging 722c (3ppm-black, 1.5ppm-color). i finally found an article, and thankfully it wasn't from cnet, on pcmag.com. cnet's reviews are always very questionable these days.

it's a very brief mention but here goes:
"the 1100d is rated up to a blazing speed of 23ppm-black(draft mode) and 20ppm-color(draft mode) in normal mode it comes to 7.5ppm-black & 7ppm-color.... unlike most hp printers the 1100d has separate ink and printhead modules. and a separate cartridge for each color means you don't have to to throw out cyan and yellow ink just because you've run out of magenta.

if you want a personal priner there's alot to like about the 1100d. it comes w/a duplexing unit for handily saving paper. its print speed was easily the fastest in our round-up (5150, 5650 & 6127). the slot in the output tray makes it easy to feed single envelopes, checks or other small sheets w/out removing the input paper and the driver has extensive options, including front-to-back or back-to-front printing sequence.

no matter how you use this printer, you will like its print quality. text as small as 4 points was legible and gradient fills were smooth. colors were well saturated w/excellent detail in both dark shadows and bright highlights. the alignment was off by a tiny amount, but you'd need a magnifying lens to see it. this is a really good choice if you print alot of pages and need the extra speed."

they also made mention of the fact that it doesn't come w/a network interface but it also mentions that one can be easily added. i've personally added one to a laser printer and it takes about 10 minutes, including software setup. one thing about the ink that i worked out. i have a 722c and the color cartridge containes 28ml of ink (approx 10 per color) and it costs about $35 per cartridge. the 1100d containes 30ml per color at $33 per cartridge. if you do the math it actually costs about the same per ml for the ink.

if you decide to buy it i hope you post a message on how it works. i'd like to know.
