Could i Put a Q6600 in a HP Compaq DX2300.
If not are there any other quad core CPU's that will work with this system. On the hp website it says it will support CPU's with LGA 775 and a max of 1066MHz FSB.

Heres a Snip of the Hp Website: http://imgur.com/9DGRj5h

I don't see why it wouldn't support the Core 2 Quad if it doesn't would there be any LGA 771 alternatives.

Thanks, Any help greatly appreciated :D

If the board is LGA775 it should work with a Q6600. HP's website doesn't always show the full extent of what works on the motherboards. For instance I upgraded an old computer with a cpu that wasn't listed on HP's website (Sempron LE-1250 -> Athlon II x4) You should be perfectly fine with a q6600 on a lga 775 board
