Hp deskjet 2050 scanner software

Hello,
I have an HP deskjet 2050 printer with a scanner. I am able to print with it fine, but it won't let me scan anything. When I try to scan it says scanner communication failed and that my scanner is unreachable. I am using an IBM ThinkPad with Windows XP Professional on it.
Please Help!

Uninstall the software and the drivers, and use these... Select your printer.

I have same problem with HP deskjet 2050 printer with a scanner. I stuck a colored cover page printer and it worked without problem.
