Hi,

I bought a HP Pavilion 32q monitor recently which has a 2560x1440 resolution. I bought a AMD HD 6450 1GB video card that has a DVI+HDMI which has a Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1600. But when I connect them using a fast HDMI cable I only get 1920x1080. I updated the drivers for monitor and video card but no effect. I am on a windows 10 machine.

When I connect my Macbook pro with the same HDMI cable, I get the 2560x1440 resoultion. I want to make it work with my windows pc as well. Can someone please tell me what is wrong.

Thanks

You will still be limited to 1080p by using a passive adapter in most cases.
Almost anything modern would have been a better choice here, like an RX 550 or GT 1030 etc.. both low power cards.

You are most welcome, as a final note I recommend a changed graphics card vs any adapter complex, native support is always best and good adapters are in the 50 dollar price range anyhow.
