Hp pavilion laptop wont turn on

Hello,

My son's HP Pavilion laptop won't turn on. When you plug the power cord in the light comes on beside where you plug it in the computer at but not on the front where it indicates that it is charging.

how old is it? i see them dead all the time in arizona because people dont clean them with compressed air. run to hot + dirt/dust laying on circuits = dead.
